“Okay, call the others and see if you can get ahold of Michael and Patience and ask them to join us. Then gather up all our new arrivals and tell them they need to meet with us in the Study at 11:00 before the ‘Meet N Greet’. Oh, and bring the girls with you.” “What’s going on?’ I asked walking into our bedroom. “Nana says the children were playing by the lake yesterday when they saw some new people walking over by the gazebo deep in conversation. She said she glanced up and then went back to what she was doing but less than two minutes later the girls came running up demanding they leave at once –she says they acted scared. When they got back inside she tried to talk to them but all she managed to get out of them was that Vickie kept saying they didn’t have any pretty colors and Lovee said they just felt mean and bad. They both agreed on one thing though, those people were scary and not like the other people who came.” “Do we know who they are?” “No but Vickie and Patience can read auras and Lovee evidently can sense peoples intentions – I also think Nana is in touch with the Spirit world which could be highly beneficial so I think we’ll know who we’re looking for soon.” “Do you understand what I want you both to do?” Anwar asked the girls after he finished explaining things to them. “We get to play spies – it’ll be fun.” Squealed Vickie. “Does this mean we’re Guardians and Warriors or is this just a special game for today?” Lovee chimed in. “Actually, it wouldn’t be a bad idea if we started honing the abilities of our next generation of Warriors. It’s an accepted truth the young have many natural abilities that they lose or bury as they get older, and I don’t mean just within their own houses especially sense most of us alive today have direct blood ties to at least two houses” Nana added. “Okay, let’s get this thing started, just remember don’t say anything to anybody until after the party, not even each other.” Creedance said opening the door to the Study. We are looking at the photographs of everyone who was in the Study after the contrived meeting. Those who were asked to attend had been photographed and asked to complete a one page bio using the excuse that IDs needed to be re-issued to give them access to all parts of the Institute and Guardian House and to find a position for them; they were then given information that would seem important to Covenant – if it were true. Nana and Patience are with us. “Wow this is really weird take a look,” Amber said handing me the photograph in her hand. I looked and then looked across the coffee table where Nana and Patience were looking at the bios; for just a second there was the look of a trapped animal on Patience’s face before Nana spoke up. “I’m assuming you are referring to the Spector standing beside me. I saw her there just as the picture was snapped and was afraid she would show up. It really doesn’t matter though because Bridgett was going to show herself at the party later anyway.” “Gran?” I wasn’t surprised. After the ‘Meet N Greet’ Party some of us went up to Amber’s apartment for drinks, we had let it slip that she and Anwar were planning on announcing their engagement privately to her Mother’s and Father’s oldest friends before making it public knowledge. “Well our little Spies let’s see those lists,” Creedance said taking the slips of paper from the girls. Each list had a number that corresponded to one of the pictures that had been taken earlier; the girls had put a mark or a comment beside the picture of any person who for some reason seemed strange or bothered them in some way. There were four people on Vickie’s list and three on Lovee’s; two of them matched – the odd part were the ones they agreed on, an elderly man from some outpost on Saturn’s fourth moon who had worked as a researcher at Covenant and Patience. Both girls agreed the man wasn’t bad he was just yucky like he didn’t care about anything; Vickie said he was gray and dingy while Lovee described him like he wasn’t really there. A quick check of his bio and background convinced us the man was a loner who only cared about books and as long as we kept him away from anything sensitive and on a short leach he was no threat. Patience though was a bigger problem. “No Uncle Creedance! She has pretty lights around her but there’s a black snake that’s squeezing her around her head and sometimes looks like its biting her and it hurts her and then the pretty lights almost go out.” “She’s scared of something really bad and the good her and the bad her are fighting, she doesn’t want to be bad but she can’t help it. Oh, and she’s got a baby inside her.” “Thank you girls, Anwar said after we’d finished going over the lists. “You can go but this needs to stay our secret okay? And if you see anyone else that has something strange about them let us know right away. Tomorrow we’ll find someone to teach you more about this gift you have.” “K, but Uncle Creedance… the people we saw weren’t there.” “Call the Grants and have them meet us in the Arbor, tell them it’s important.” Creedance spoke. “I don’t mean to tell you how to do your job but it sounds to me like a possession and I think Anju’s garden would be a better place, the gateways are open there. She has ancester’s of native blood as well as Mantra’s bloodline and we might need help from the Spirit world as well as Patience’s connection to the Earth Mother.” Nana interrupted. “Make it so,” Creedance said shimmering out. “This doesn’t make sense; Patience cannot be working with the Covenant. Her Mother risked her life getting her to a safe place. I was married to her for five years and I’d know.” “I think you need to get the girls in here before we go any further, there’s something strange about this whole situation,” Nana said. “Both of the girls agreed the black snake like thing Vickie saw and the bad thing that was sharing her body were a lot littler today. I sent the girls next door to play. Let’s talk to Patience.” “The only thing I can actually remember of that day was the horrible headache I had; it was so bad that when I got back to the apartment I took another pill and lay down. I must have gone to sleep because the next thing I remember is Michael asking me if I felt like going down to dinner.” “How long have you been having these headaches and who prescribed your medicine? “ asked Anwar. “Michael go get those pills and take them to the alchemist and see if we can find out what’s in them” Creedance said when Patience finished explaining about seeing a new Doctor just after she and Michael decided to give their marriage another chance. “I’ll Call Brad, he’s a Family Practitioner with Native American ties, and I think we might need his help” Andy said. We leave the men in the Living Room and go into Anju’s garden, to The Stone Circle where the Spirit Mothers wait. Patience screamed and grabbed her head as soon as she entered The Circle; suddenly two women were holding her on either side just as she collapsed. “Quickly, get her to the altar and immobilize her. If this is what I think it is it will only get stronger the longer it remains attached to her” an old woman said. “We need to extract it and then make sure that both she and the baby are alright.” “Well then call The Elements and let’s get started” Gran said... Patience screamed again as we all held her body to the stone; a crystal blue light rose and enveloped us all when it dissipated there were three black writhing Soul Leeches laying on the ground. We watched as a wispy figure holding two tiny bright lights entered Patience’s still body; a few moments later she opened her eyes. “Take her home and put her to bed; they’ll be fine now. Brad will be up in about an hour to check on her. Did the Alchemist say anything?” “He said it damn sure wasn’t what it was supposed to be and he’d let you know what it was later but in the meanwhile don’t give her anything but Rose of Sharon/Sage tea.” “They?’ he said stopping at the door. “Yes, Patience is pregnant.” Kirlian photography equipment has been installed at every entrance and exit and the three men and women the girls saw that day in the gardens have been identified. They have had their memory wiped and been sent on their way with false information. Creedance said they had found out through a hidden bug about the reason for the meeting and had gone away on a weekend trip so every inch of the mansion was also swept. We have selected seven volunteers to go through the gate to Infiltrate and spy on Covenant, all are single with no ties that can be used against them. The rest of the Warriors are assigned to the outlining planets to help them organize; As soon as the Warriors were gone, Anwar and Amber left to inspect the site of a new dig on a small moon hidden on the dark side of an un-named planet in the Gaian System. Nana’s translations of the earlier entries from ‘The Records of The Guardians’ that were written in ESOE made it possible to decipher most of the tablet he had found on Rav 4, which indeed turned out to be a key and told of a Chamber on an unseen moon in the Goddesses’ Domain. Nana went with them and so did Gran.
